10th April 2018: Acclimatization and rest Read More

 

First morning at 12000 feet, Namche Bazar. Team went for an acclimatization hike up to the Everest View Hotel. The weather was cloudy and visibility was very poor. Thus today team missed the glimpse of Everest. Neverthless, tea, spent some time at Everest view hotel and returned to Namche Bazar. Now they would rest for the day and tomorrow move to Tengboche.

9th April 2018: Phakding to Namche Bazar Read More

 

Team started from Phakdin early morning towards Namche Bazar. Sanket joined them at Lunch time in Monjo. From there crossing two rickity bridges, team reached Namche Bazar around 5 in the evening. 

 

 

 

8th April 2018: Flying to Lukla - Attempt 2 Read More

 

Once again the same Tribhuvan International Airport crowded with people to fly to Lukla and once again disappointment due the bad weather. Sanket did sit in the flight but due to excess wind the flight got cancelled and he had to return. Meanwhile team could manage to fly to Lukla in a chopper and they reached Lukla in the afternoon. Trek began from Lukla to Phakding and team reached Phakding in good time and good physical conditions every one is fit and fine just missing Sanket. He will join the team tomorrow.

The team has reached Tribhuvan International Airport in KTM and will now take of the flight to Lukla. Due to bad weather the flight did not take place so back to hotel. 🙁

6th April 2018: Briefing meeting and Flag off from KathmanduRead More

 

All the preparations are over and the team is ready to march from kathmandu for the mission of climbing Mt. Island also known as Imja Tse. The team was briefed by Mr. Keshab Poudyal, Chairman of Peak Promotion Pvt. Ltd. and they were fortunate to receive the best wishes from Giripremi's senior mountaineer and Director of Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering Shri Umesh Zirpe (Shri. Shiv Chhatrapati Sports award winner). The team was charged and energized with the motivation from Mama and Keshab ji. They will be heading in mountains tomorrow with an experience shrepa guide Wandga Sherpa.

GGIMs 5 budding mountaineers 1.Purva Shinde Singh,  2.Rahul Inamdar,  3.Rohini Upasani,  4.Shrikant Dhumale &  5.Avinash Sawant; along with Giripremi`s young mountaineer Sanket Dhotre have embarked on Mt. Island Expedition. Today is the first day of expedition and the team members have reached Kathmandu and will be doing final preparation tomorrow.
