GGIM in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune & Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi has launched Diploma Course in Mountaineering. For the first time in India, adventure education is being brought under academic curriculum inculcating the values derived through mountaineering life style. 

The course envisions to impart the skills of mountain climbing, sensitise trainees to respect mountains and their ecosystems, develop intrepid resilience and self confidence, gain experince of value based education, and those who are further passionate, can seek sustainable employability in the feld of adventure and mountaineering stream. Additionally, being associated with a reputed academic institution like Pune University, which offers 36 credits, makes this course a unique educational curricullum.

Through this course, trainees will have a hands on and immesrive exposure to mountain climbing training in rock, snow, and ice, skills of first aid, navigation, rope management and so on. GGIM’s top notch faculty shall discuss in depth key subjects such as mountain biodiversity, their protection and conservation, Forts and their architecture, history and cultural significance. 

A Diploma graduate gains extensive exposure in terms of theory as well as practical sessions. This course is a stepping stone for seeking a career in the adventure field and in particular mountaineering.
