GGIM team summited Kedarkantha peak 3800 meters (12,500 feet) in Uttarakhand on early morning of 14th December. The team consisted of total 14 members. Yashwant Sakhardande, Aniruddh Deshpande, Medha Medsikar, Vikram Daundkar, Chitra Joshi, Sanjay Bhapkar, Gopal Gurav, Vijayalakshmi.S, Mrinal Kulkarni, Mrunmayee Patil, Saee Deshpande under guidance of GGIM instructor Sayali Budhkar.

The team was mix of age group from  14 year olds Mrunmayee and Saee to 65 year old Yashwant. Yashwant was an inspiration to all members. He is full of positivity and willpower at the age of 65. He made a strong summit attempt and left all trekkers in awe. He is of the opinion that anyone can do anything only with a positive mindset. He is a proof that age is just a number.

On the other hand, Saee and Mrunmayee are both students of GGIM’s Avhaan Nirmaan Udaan program initiated by GGIM. Being budding mountaineers, they had a strong summit push and were equally responsible towards the nature during the approach trek. They collected most of the plastic on the trek route and set an example to all team members and other trekkers as well that how we need to be equally responsible towards our mountains. All the learnings from their ANU program were seen getting applied.

All members experienced their first ever winter trek and had a great experience of walking over a ridge on their way to summit. They could see Swargarohoni massive, Kalanaag peak and mesmerizing 360 degree views of himalayan ranges along with beautiful sunrise from the summit.

The team is now eager to summit new peaks and are full of confidence and energy.
