Tenzing Norgay Excellence Awards
It is with immense pride that the Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering (GGIM) announces a new milestone in its legacy of adventure education. The institute, along with Giripremi and the Giripremi Adventure Foundation, was recently honored with the prestigious Tenzing Norgay Excellence Award at the Himalayan Conclave – Everest Summit 3.0 in Ranchi, organized by the i3 Foundation in partnership with IMF East Zone.
Bhushan Harshe was honored in the “Explorer in the Indian Himalayas” category & Umesh Zirpe received the Tenzing Norgay Excellence Award in the “Inspirational Mountaineer” category.

Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award for Lifetime Achievement to Umesh Zirpe
GGIM Founder Director, Giripremi’s veteran mountaineer, leader of 8000er expeditions Shri Umesh Zirpe receives the most prestigious and the highest adventure award of India – Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award – Lifetime Achievement 2023 at the hands of Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu.

The Sword of Regalia from Indian Army
Indian Army Southern Command felicitated team GGIM for their extra ordinary work in the field of mountainering and adventure training. Then Left Gen. A K Singh of the Indian Army Southern Command presented team with ” The Sword of Regalia” – Southern Star, A Decisive Sword of India*

GGIM’s Diploma – First & Only in India
First and the only institute in India to offer a systematic and certified Diploma Course in Mountaineering in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune & Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi. GGIM has so far completed 3 batches and over 75 trainees have completed Diploma in Mountaineering.

Only Leader in India to have led 8 successful 8000er expeditions
Founder Director Shri. Umesh Zirpe is the only leader in India to have led 8 successful 8000er expeditions including Mt. Everest & Mt. Kangchenjunga. He is the recipient of India’s highest Tenzig Norgay National Adventure Award (Lifetime Achivement) 2023 and Maharashtra’s highest Shivchhatrapati Adventure Sport Award in 2014.
