Hello Adventure Enthusiasts and Parents,

Please find the details of the upcoming trek below:

Level: Avhaan
Trek Destination: Kalyangad Fort

About Kalyangad Fort

Kalyangad Fort, also known as Nandgiri Fort, is a historic hill fort located in Koregaon Taluka of Satara District, Maharashtra. Situated at an elevation of approximately 3,500 feet, the fort offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

The fort is traditionally attributed to Shilahara King Bhoj II and was captured by the forces of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1673. During the Maratha period, Nandgiri served as an important administrative centre for the surrounding region.

One of the notable features of the fort is its ancient cave, which contains a 9th-century idol of Jain Tirthankara Parshvanath, along with idols of Dattatreya and a goddess. The fort also has rock-cut steps, water cisterns, gateways and remnants of its old fortifications.

The trek provides participants with an opportunity to explore the history, architecture and natural surroundings of the fort while developing confidence, endurance, teamwork and outdoor skills.
