Description
Ice Climbing Course
The Ice Climbing Course is a specialized technical training program offered by Giripremi’s Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering (GGIM). This course helps participants learn how to climb on real waterfall ice formations using specialized technical equipment under expert guidance. It is ideal for those who wish to raise the bar in mountaineering and explore technical climbing in the future.
Course Overview – Basic Ice Climbing Training
The main objective of this course is to provide a hands-on introduction to waterfall ice climbing, gear mastery, and core climbing skills. Participants learn how to use technical equipment, including crampons, ice axes, ice screws, and ropes safely and effectively. As a result, trainees build the practical confidence and technical foundation required for high-altitude expeditions and advanced mountaineering.
Moreover, the course focuses on real-world application on slanting ice faces and steeper ice walls. Trainees practice ascending, descending, efficient movement, and setting up basic top-rope ice anchors. Through continuous coaching, simulated climbing scenarios, and daily hands-on training, they gain valuable technical experience.
In addition, the course exposes participants to route planning, screw placement, rappelling with a bottom belay, and advanced climbing maneuvers on difficult pitches. This experience prepares them for higher-grade technical climbs while encouraging safety awareness, gear care, and self-reliance in alpine terrain.
