Udaan – JULY

The Katraj to Sinhagad (K2S) Trek is one of the longest and most demanding ridge treks in the Sahyadri range near Pune, stretching from Katraj Ghat to Sinhagad Fort. Covering approximately 15-16 kilometers depending on the exact route, this trek is known for its continuous chain of hilltops, involving repeated ascents and descents that test endurance and pacing. Unlike forest trails, the K2S route is largely exposed, with open ridges, grassy slopes, rocky sections, and minimal tree cover, which makes hydration and energy management crucial.
We can spot major forts of the region such as Rajgad Fort and Torna Fort in the distance, along with wide valley views and parts of Pune city. During monsoon, the ridge turns lush green with strong winds and misty sections, while winter provides clearer visibility and pleasant trekking conditions. The trek is particularly popular as a night trek, allowing participants to reach Sinhagad by sunrise. Due to its length, elevation changes, and exposed terrain, K2S is generally recommended for physically prepared trekkers and organized groups.
